Through Water Monitoring Day; staff vs. students in basketball, volleyball, and flag football; Red Ribbon Week; Pi Day; countless hours in the classroom; and many more exciting events and moments shared together; we now arrive at the moment that our students and their parents wait and hope for, graduation. STEM Week and Birdhouses for Volkswagen The Bachman Academy students are participating in a week of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math lessons and field trips this week. On Wednesday, our students were able to tour the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga to get in depth look at what goes on in the plant and to see how the cars are made. Additionally, Bachman Academy partnered with Volkswagen of Chattanooga to build birdhouses for their wetlands. VW provided used wooden pallets as the raw materials which the Bachman students used to build the birdhouses in the Bachman Academy woodshop.According to VW, their “plant was built on a brownfield property with no destruction of untouched nature. Reanette, Goddess of
Sparkle and Shine
A fable written by talented student, Holly L.
There had been a time, very long ago, when objects
refracted light and caused the object to sparkle or shine, but those times were
over, it seemed, and the world had come to terms with being utterly dull.
Meanwhile, Reanette, the goddess of all things shiny and sparkly, was counting
her collection of polished stones, her favorite being the small pink one with
purple and blue speckles. She admired it, holding it up to the light. She then
sighed and placed the small stone lovingly back into its velvet pouch.
“Oh how I wish to have more. I always want more!”
