Our mission is to empower students
who have learning differences
to develop the skills and values
necessary for success in
our global community.



Bachman Academy is a boarding and day school serving intelligent students in grades 6-12 who have language-based learning differences like Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, Central Auditory Processing Disorder, Visual Processing Disorders, and students with Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

We provide a language-rich program of study emphasizing active learning. In addition to hands-on academics, the academy offers career-education in mechanics, equine science, woodworking, and horticulture/agriculture.

  • STEM Week and Birdhouses for Volkswagen The Bachman Academy students are participating in a week of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math lessons and field trips this week. On Wednesday, our students were able to tour the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga to get in depth look at what goes on in the plant and to see how the cars are made. Additionally, Bachman Academy partnered with Volkswagen of Chattanooga to build birdhouses for their wetlands. VW provided used wooden pallets as the raw materials which the Bachman students used to build the birdhouses in the Bachman Academy woodshop.According to VW, their “plant was built on a brownfield property with no destruction of untouched nature.
