Bachman Academy exists to help students learn how to learn independently.

We are a private, nonprofit co-ed boarding and day school for students in grades 6-12 with learning differences. Our students face challenges such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, executive functioning deficits, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other non-verbal learning challenges.

We use a unique mix of hands-on, sensory-based learning plus cutting-edge cognitive skills training to help our students succeed.

Our students come from across the U.S. and from other countries. Most have average to above average intelligence, but have struggled in traditional school settings. At Bachman, all students are treated with respect and encouragement. Our dedicated instructors and learning interventionists customize and optimize learning strategies for each individual.

At Bachman Academy, content mastery is not our ultimate goal. Instead, we want our students to become information gatherers, strategic thinkers, and problem solvers, able to apply independent learning skills to any job-based or life-skills challenge.  Our students graduate with a full high-school diploma, and most go on to enroll in college or vocational training classes.

Bachman Academy is dually-accredited by SAIS-SACS, the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.  We are members of the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools (TAIS) and the Southeastern Association of Boarding Schools (SABS).

Bachman Academy does not discriminate on the basis or race, color, national and ethnic origin, religion, or gender in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
