Ever since 1999, our mission has been to "empower students who have learning differences to develop the skills and values necessary for success in our global community."
As a result of cutting-edge cognitive research and first-hand teaching experience, we have refined our purpose:
At Bachman Academy, we exist to to help students learn how to learn independently.
We know that the key to success for our students is for them to gain essential EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SKILLS.
Executive functioning is what your brain does to help you prioritize tasks, solve problems, control impulses and emotions, organize steps, and follow through with action.
Since our students struggle in this area, we are continually improving and enriching our curriculum to promote good executive functioning. Everything we do -- whether in academics or dorm life -- is PURPOSEFUL, PREDICTABLE, CONSISTENT, and STRUCTURED.
For the 2017-2018 school year, we are adding new cognitive training and learning independence programs. To read more about these exciting new offerings, please click on the "Academics" tab.
