Our eight English/Language Arts classes are in a writing competition to see which class can create the best story. Each class will write a story together, so there will be eight entries in all. They can win in one of three categories: comedy/adventure, sci-fi thriller, or drama/tragedy. Several (non-ELA) members of the faculty and staff will be the judges.

The judging criteria are:

Comedy/Adventure
  • Must be entertaining
  • Must have humor factor
  • Must have more than one location with smooth transitions
  • Characters must be realistic
  • No plot holes

Sci-Fi Thriller
  • Characters can be alien, but must have depth
  • Plot should be exciting, fast-paced and detailed
  • No plot holes

Drama/Tragedy
  • Can be horror, romance, war or survival story
  • Must evoke heavy emotion
  • Must have intelligent realistic characters
  • No plot holes
