All students, no matter whether they are day or boarding students, have many opportunities during the class day for positive interactions with their teachers and peers. At Bachman, differences are accepted! Our community will not tolerate anyone being bullied or excluded.

A POSITIVE WAY TO BEGIN THE DAY

8:00 am - 8:10 am       Start of another great school day!

Students gather at the flagpole to say the "Pledge of Allegiance" and go to chapel. They turn in their cell phones so that they can focus on their schoolwork and their relationships with instructors and peers. During chapel time, the speaker will share an example or lead a discussion about that week's positive character trait, such as honesty, perseverance, or integrity. Several times a week, students and teachers will take a short nature walk before classes begin, enjoying the sight of horses in the pasture and deer skittering through the woods.

8:15 am - 8:55 am       Personalized intervention time

Students receive specialized assistance in one of the following areas: project-based learning, reading comprehension, math literacy, or social skills. This dedicated learning time helps them catch up on specific learning gaps.

9:00 am - 12:15 pm     Class Periods 1, 2, 3, and 4

Students attend 45 minute class sessions, but here at Bachman, they are not passively listening while an instructor lectures. Our learning is hands-on, collaborative, and sensory-based. Students ask questions, investigate problems, evaluate resources, and discover answers in a dynamic, interactive fashion.

BREAKING BREAD TOGETHER

12:20 pm - 12:50 pm    Lunch with the Bachman community

One of the best things about being a small school is the positive relationships that develop among classmates and colleagues. At Bachman Academy, everyone sits down together for lunch. Students and staff members intermingle, talking about common interests and sharing laughs.

COMPLETING THE ACADEMIC DAY

12:55 pm - 3:20 pm      Class Periods 5, 6, and 7

In addition to core language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies classes, students also participate in electives such as art, music, woodworking, or ACT prep.

3:25 pm - 3:45 pm        Homework/tutoring time

Students work individually, as well as in small groups, to complete assignments.

3:50 pm - 3:55 pm        Group meeting

The day end with announcements and reminders.
