Mission/Youth Groups (Summer)

Nature of Work: Volunteer groups will perform a variety of maintenance and grounds work on the 210-acre campus and buildings of Bachman Academy.

Group Specifications: Groups or a combination of groups of senior highs and adults. Group size: 10 to 25; minimum age: 14; adult/youth ratio: 1/5.

Cost per Volunteer:  $38 / day, for room and board. Minimum three days. Donations requested for materials costs.

Bachman Provides: Dormitory style housing on campus: beds, bathrooms, showers, washer/dryer, air conditioning. Most tools provided. Campus chapel is available for use by the group.

Additional Information: The school is in a rural setting close to Chattanooga, TN and airport (20 miles), and convenient to I-75.  Whitewater rafting is nearby on the Ocoee River (20 miles).   Swimming pool, tennis, basketball, volleyball courts, hiking trails and lake located on campus.

Clerical/Receptionist Volunteer (Weekdays, Flexible)

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: Volunteer will answer telephone, screen and direct calls, take and relay messages, greet persons entering organization, direct persons to correct destination, and offer general administrative and clerical support

Education and Experience: High school diploma generally required, knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, knowledge of computers and relevant software applications, knowledge of customer service principles and practices, and keyboard skills

Key Competencies: Verbal communication skills (vocal and written), professional personal presentation, customer service orientation, information management, organizing and planning, attention to detail, and reliability.

Time Commitment:  Negotiable time commitment, but generally between one to three days per week, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Lunch is provided in the Academy’s cafeteria at no charge.

General Maintenance Volunteer (Weekdays, Flexible)

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: Volunteer will assist maintenance department with handyman tasks and grounds-keeping duties.

Education and Experience: High school diploma generally required, knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and landscaping is a plus.

Key Competencies: General handiness is helpful. Verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and reliability are a must.

Time Commitment:  Flexible time commitment, but generally between one to three days per week. Lunch is provided in the Academy’s cafeteria at no charge.
